The San Francisco 49ers have re-signed star offensive tackle, Trent Williams to a six-year, $138M contract. He is now the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL history. Williams spent last season with the San Francisco 49ers after being traded from the Washington Football Team last offseason. In his first year with the 49ers the elite left tackle was a consistent feature on the offensive line. Though part of an injury struck 49ers team, Williams only allowed four sacks during the regular season and boasted a pff grade of 91.9.
Before making the move to California, Williams was the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft by the Washington Football Team. Since, Williams has made eight straight pro bowl appearances (excluding 2019-sitting out that season due to disputes with Washington). The dominant offensive lineman also made the second team all-pro in 2015. Re-signing Williams is a huge win for the 49ers, who will be looking to get back into the playoffs this upcoming season, after an injury plagued 2020 campaign.
