The Cincinnati Bengals have signed defensive end, Trey Hendrickson to a four-year deal worth $60M. Hendrickson was a third round pick in the 2017 draft by the New Orleans Saints. Yet, in 2020 Hendrickson emerged as a full time starter for the first time under Sean Payton. In 15 starts for New Orleans, the edge rusher wreaked havoc registering 25 quarterback hits to accompany his 13.5 sacks.
Until 2020, number 91 for New Orleans was mainly a rotational pass rusher but did show splashes of potential. Throughout his first three years in the NFL, Hendrickson only started three games but featured in 30 games. In his sparing appearances, 6.5 sacks and 18 quarterback hits highlighted that the 270 pound edge could be a starter the following year. After losing Carl Lawson to the Jets, it didn’t take the Bengals long to find their replacement.
