The New York Jets have signed defensive end, Carl Lawson on a three-year deal worth $45M. Lawson was a 4th round draft pick in 2017 out of Auburn University, and has spent his first 4 seasons in the NFL with the Cincinnati Bengals. With a total of 20 sacks in that span, Lawson has shown an ability to get pressure on the quarterback and with him only being 25 years old, you suspect that is best years are ahead of him.
According to Next Gen stats, Lawson was seventh in the NFL in sacks created with 10.5. So although his personal stats don’t exactly jump off the page, you can see that he makes his fellow teammates on the defensive line play better. It’s a great signing for the Jets who were in desperate need of pass rush help.
