The New England Patriots have signed former Chargers tight end, Hunter Henry to a three-year deal worth $37.5M. Henry was drafted in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Chargers, with whom he spent 5 years with. Henry has had a hard time with injuries since being drafted into the NFL and he even missed the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL. In 4 active years with the Chargers, Henry had a total of 2,322 receiving yards and 21 receiving touchdowns.
Prior to the 2020 season, the Chargers placed the franchise tag on Henry and he went on to reach a new career high in receptions with a total of 60. Henry is the patriots 12th signing so far, as Bill Belichick and the front office have got off to a flying start in free agency. The Patriots now have an abundance of tight ends as Henry is paired with Jonnu Smith, who the Pats signed yesterday on a 4yr/$50M deal, along with last years 3rd round draft picks in Devin Asiasi and Dalton Keene.
